Encasa

Specials for the night

Walked pass Encasa quite a few times and never get to chance to try it. Finally, on a humid Wed night, Miss P, Miss C and I got cut of from the queue for the Malaysian Food Market  at Town Hall (after queueing for about 40 mins ... ), we settled our rummbling tummies at Encasa. It was a little busy Spanish restraurent on Pitt Street. As soon as we walked inside the front door, the smell of freshly baked pizzas was heavenly ... I stared off the night with a glass of lemon and lime bitter while Miss P and Miss C opted for the deluxe sangria. The deluxe sangria is higher in alcohol content, it includes a shot of midori and malibu (and i think another shot of liquor as well). I had a sip of it, it was fruity and sweet.

Shortly after we placed our order, the food were coming up to our table one by one. After 10 mins, our little square table was filled with small plates of tapas. We have orderd the ...

"Potato bravas" -  Fried potato w/ garlic mayonnaise and spicy tomato salsa
"Champiñones al Ajillo" - Sizzling garlic mushrooms
"Pulpo a la Plancha" -  Grilled fresh baby octopus
"Chorizo a la Sidra" - Spanish sausage poached in cider
"Quatro Quesos" - Pizza with Blue Cheese, Mozzarella, Goats Cheese and Parmesan

I love potatos ... esecially fried potatos served with  tomato sauce. They were full filling but I just couldn't stop myself! The garlic mushrooms was hot juicy, and full of yummy minced garlic. The chorizo sausages were nicely poached in a slightly sweet and tangy cider sauce and on the other hand, the 4 cheeses pizza was so cheesy ... and love the stretching cheese strings when bite into it.  The only disappointment was the octopus, they were a bit hard; probably overcooked.

As we all love dessert, we couldn't resist to order something sweet to round off our night. We have ordered the "Orange semifredo with spiced chocolate cake and comfit oranges", "Homemade peanut butter ice cream on chocolate fondant" and "Cinnamon spiced creme brulee". To be honest, their dessert were borderline.  The orange semifredo was quite blend and the cake was very hard; but the comfit oranges were zesty and sweet. Best to eat the 3 things together. The creme brulee was very watery but it does has a nice subtle cinnamon flavour. Out of the all 3 choices, the peanut butter ice cream was the best one. Is like eating big spoonfuls of icy cold peanut butter; unfortunately, the texture was a bit rough and instead of sitting on a chocolate fondant, they were sitting on top of a bed of chocolate sauce.

Next time when I go there, I will just order a table of tapas and pizzas, with jar(s) of deluxe sangria (for friends) and lemon and lime bitters (for me), just enjoy a noisy night full of food and joy.
